Zablace is a beautiful coastal town on the Adriatic sea located just 9 kilometers from the historic city of Sibenik and located near the well known hotel complex Solaris.
In Medieval times Zablace was well known for its salt works. Residents of Sibenik flocked to this seaside town to work in the salt works for trading and for their own consumption. Over time, the residents of Zablace slowly neglected the traditional production and exportation of the natural sea salt and ultimately production ceased. The areas where salt was once produced are known as Velika Jezera (Big Lake) and Mala Solina (Small Salt Works). This area is rich in therapeutic mud used in healing various rheumatism.
Today, Zabalce offers an unusual but pleasant mixture of the old fishermen homes and luxurious villas situated near a think pine forrest. The open sea is very favorable for wind surfing. Other various events are organized in the nearby Hotel resort Solaris and in Sibenik which make Zablace a great tourist destination.
