Omis is a small port town with a population of 15800, situated at the mouth of the Cetina River. It is remembered the best for its sandy beach, markets, alleys of stone houses, all overlooked by a hilltop fortress. Omis, as the main town on the Omis Riviera, provides numerous sports and recreational facilities; soccer and basketball playgrounds, tennis courts, bocce, and beach volleyball. There are 30 free climbing trails on the cliffs of the Cetina canyon; water sports equipment is rented; a swimming marathon for recreation enthusiasts is regularly organized. Excursions are also offered to nearby islands. Due to all of this and the fact that Omis is located in between Split and Makarska, makes it a great tourist destination. The Omis Riviera, which streaches 35 km and are most know for its sand and tiny peeble beaches, include the villages of Duce, Stanici, Ruskamen, Mimice, and Lokva Rogoznica.
1. Explore the Cetina Gorge. Rafting, canoeing, and kayaking are offered. 2. Get a spectacular view by climbing up to the 16th century fortress on top of 311 meter hill. 3.
