Omis is a small port town with a population of 15800, situated at the mouth of the Cetina River. It is remembered the best for its sandy beach, markets, alleys of stone houses, all overlooked by a hilltop fortress.

Omis, as the main town on the Omis Riviera, provides numerous sports and recreational facilities; soccer and basketball playgrounds, tennis courts, bocce, and  beach volleyball. There are 30 free climbing trails on the cliffs of the Cetina canyon; water sports equipment is rented; a swimming marathon for recreation enthusiasts is regularly organized. Excursions are also offered to nearby islands. Due to all of this and the fact that Omis is located in between Split and Makarska, makes it a great tourist destination.

The Omis Riviera, which streaches 35 km and are most know for its sand and tiny peeble beaches, include the villages of Duce, Stanici, Ruskamen, Mimice, and Lokva Rogoznica.

Duce (Omis)

duce1Duce is a small village with 1,345 inhabitants, just 3 km west of Omis. It is most known for its magnificent and nearly continuous sandy beaches that runs 4 km long. The beaches are very shallow and because of that it is a great vacation spot for families with small children.The pine and tamarisk tress along the beach also give a nice shade.

Gata (Omis)

Gata is a small village located 8 km northeast of Omis. Situated on the mountain side overlooking the sea, Gata offers tourists the ability to see how people live in a Croatian traditional rural area. The village has a 6th century Basilica and restaurant offering local specialties. The beaches are only a short drive a way in Omis. Sports enthusiasts can do rafting, cannoning, scuba diving, fishing, go hiking, bike - riding, trekking or free climbing, all in the surrounding area.

Krilo Jesenice (Omis)

Lokva Rogoznica is a small village about 7 km from Omis. It is located beneath the mountain of Mosor along the Adriatic highway. The area was first settled in the year 1231. The village is known for its pebble and sandy beaches and it offers all the necessary facilities for a quiet family vacation. The village has several restaurants, stores, exchange offices and a post office. Each year in August, the village organizes a fiesta -“Fishermen nights.”  It is a famous local event with plenty of entertainment for everyone. For those interested in more active holiday and nightlife, the nearby city of Split and towns of Omis and Makarska can offer just that.

Mimice (Omis)

Mimice is a small touristic village located on the Omis Riviera, just 15 km south of Omis and 15 km from Brela and the Makarska Riviera. Known best for its fine peeble beaches and crystal clear water, Mimice offers a quiet and tranquil vacation.
